Garden Beauties!

Hello everyone,

How could June have gone by so fast? I hope all you fellow Canadians enjoyed celebrating Canada Day. Anyway, as it is Show and Tell Friday, I am sharing some photos of some beautiful flowers that are blooming in our garden now.

The Terese Bugnet rose above is still blooming.

This is a Hansa rose-it is hardy and grows about 6 ft. tall.

Clustered bellflower- pretty in the garden and lasts a long time in a bouquet too.

This is Patti's Plum-an oriental poppy.

I love the color of this poppy but I can't remember the name of it.

This is such a huge bomb style peony-Sarah Bernhardt. I love it!

This is a new peony last year in our garden called Hawaiian Pink Coral.

David Austen's Mary Rose.

Macro photo- Walker's Low Nepeta.

Clematis -Josephine

Macro shot of Dianthus-love the fragrance.

Bell flower

Prairie Princess rose- hardy and pretty!

I love this peony-I think it is the Duchess of Nemours.

Some Clematis are starting to bloom-this is Dr Ruppel.

There is lots more blooming but I can't keep you all day when there is so much to enjoy at My Romantic Home where there are many more participants in Show And Tell Friday.

Thank you for visiting,

Enjoy your day,

Carolyn

Island Scenes

Today I thought you might enjoy a little tour of the Island(Prince Edward Island) .The peaceful photo above was taken at Knox Dam a beautiful place on the Eastern end of our little Isle.
This is Knox B&B right beside the dam. I love the house too and think it would be a beautiful place to stay.
This photo was taken last year at West River.
My husband and I went touring a couple of weeks ago and I took this shot in French River-a beautiful little fishing village.
Of course living on an Island we have lots of beautiful beaches-this one is on the north shore.
The south shore has beautiful beaches also and when the tide goes out it is lovely for walking or playing in the sand. the water tends to be warmer on the south shore but on low tide you may not be able to swim.
This photo was taken in Clinton. I wanted to show the hills and valley's.
I fell in love with this farm on Malpeque Bay. Isn't it beautiful?
This is the restored mill in Hunter River.
And of course ,being an Island there are lots of lovely lighthouses. This one is in Fort Amherst.
The rolling hills of New Glasglow.
I couldn't do a tour of the Island and not show Anne of Green Gables-I hope you have all read Lucy Maud Montgomery's book that made our little Island famous.
Time to go fishing on the Lake of Shining Waters.
This shot was taken in Northport up west.
This beautiful church is in the western part of the Island -the other side of Malpeque Bay.
Now with the sun setting it is time to say good bye. I hope you enjoyed taking a little tour with me around some of my favorite places on the Island.Someday soon,we will have to do this again!
This is the only photo I could find that remotely says Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadian friends.(taken last year in our garden).
My sister is coming home from Vancouver for a couple of weeks so I may be more sporadic with my blogging while she is here.
Happy Canada Day and Happy Fourth of July to my American friends.
Have a safe and happy weekend,
Carolyn

Delicate Whites

Hello,

I am so glad you came back as I enjoyed taking these photos for you of my delicate white peonies.

I think they look rather beautiful against the delicate antique lace blouse.

This is a Festiva Maxima peony that came from my Dad's garden many years ago. It is taller then some and very fragrant. It has a hint or red in it.

I think this is Charlie's White peony.

This one is Krinkled White, and it doesn't need to be staked.

I love to have big bouquets of peonies in the house.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing another batch of peonies from our garden. I still have more to share but I will share something different first. I do have some other photos of the Island that I am hoping you will enjoy.

I am joinng in with Kathleen today for White Wednesday at Faded Charm where you can enjoy lots of beautiful whites.

Thank you for visiting me,

&

Take care,

Carolyn

For the Love of Peonies!

Hello everyone,

My peonies are in bloom now so I am happy to share some photos that I took of them today with all of you because I am sure everyone loves peonies!

As some of you may remember we have over one hundred peonies in our garden. The early ones have come and gone but most of them are in bloom now with a few later ones yet to come.

These photos were taken in our terrace and as I was taking them I was enjoying the roses blooming in the background.

I love all the different colors and shapes of peonies.

Love their fragrance and I love them in bouquets as well as in the garden.

When I turned to get shots on this side-I enjoyed some of the peonies blooming in the garden behind.

Blooming in the background here is the lovely Miss Canada lilac and on the right the Japanese Ivory Silk lilac is yet to bloom and it also has a lovely sweet fragrance. I love that the lilac and peony season can be extended a bit by having different varieties that bloom at different times. Alas, it is still not long enough to suit me but for everything there is a season! At least I can enjoy the memories of them through my photos.

Well, that is a few of my peonies but if you would like to visit tomorrow I have more to share.

I hope I didn't hear a groan because I have LOTS more. Aren't you glad if you get tired of my obsessions you can just pull the plug on me -not so for my dear husband!

Take care,

Carolyn
